The SARASOTA • MANATEE CHAPTER (formerly the Gulf Shores Chapter) was formed in 1985 by three legal administrators with the foresight of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) could offer to the legal community of Sarasota and Manatee counties. Since then, the chapter has grown in size and accomplishments. The first salary and benefits survey in 1988 has become a bi-annual project. In 1992 the Chapter hosted the Regional Conference. The first Technology seminar produced and sponsored in conjunction with the Sarasota County Bar Association won the chapter a National Award for Bar Relations.

The Sarasota · Manatee Chapter serves the legal community in a variety of ways. It hosts educational seminars for attorneys and administrators, some of which provide CLE credits. Since the chapter’s inception, its members have been active with the Florida Council, and in attendance at ALA Chapter Leadership, Regional, and National Conferences.
